Bee observation house: Through the plexiglass you can see how female bees build their nest. She lays in the nest cavity, a supply of pollen and nectar and lays an egg on it. Then she closes the eggcell. She makes several cells sequentially in a corridor, sometimes up to 10 cells in a wooden cavity. They are left alone, and a year later, when the plants bloom again, a mature bee arrives. The egg transforms into larvae and then pupate ultimately to an adult bee. Each bee prefers a different diameter hole. Masonry bees will choose for example the holes with a diameter of 3 to 7 mm (0.12 to 0.47) while Hylaeus will occupy the ones with a diameter of 2 to 4 mm (0.08 to 0.16). There are several things to consider when choosing a location for the beehouse. Choose a sunny location with protection from wind and rain. Warmth is important for the offspring. Attach the beehouse at a height of 1,5 to 2m (4,92 to 6,56), facing south. Make sure the entrances on the front side can be easily seen by the bees. Native plants, herbs, blossoming flowers, shrubs and trees nearby will ensure a fully booked beehouse. They will provide the food for the insects. Loam, sand and water should also be nearby. Because of the declining flora and nesting possibilities, many species are endangered. This beehouse offers a perfect nesting accommodation to several species. Dimensions: 20 x 7.8 x 37.2 cm.
