Its name comes from the union of the two Latin words phalaena (`butterfly`) and opsis (`similar`) due to the similarity of the shape of these flowers with that of butterflies. 
Phalaenopsis is characterized by the presence of 2/6 large and green leaves, capable of reaching a height of about 50 cm. Their role is fundamental since they are the only body capable of storing water. The roots are very branched and large and turn silver when the plant needs watering. The orchid flowers are large and with almost equal sepals and have a color that can illuminate any area of the house. 

TREATMENT: It prefers bright places, but not direct light: put it in the brightest point of the room near the window, avoiding the rays of the direct sun through the windows. Pay attention to the temperature, which must not drop below 19 ° C and must not exceed 25-26 ° C. Therefore avoid positioning it near heaters or drafts. 
It is essential to provide it with constant humidity, while avoiding the stagnation of the water that causes rotting: let the roots absorb the water they need, then eliminate excess. 

EXPOSURE: Interior: Very bright, no direct light. Outside: in summer it can be placed outside, but only if placed in the shade.
