Myrtillocactus geometrizans, also known as the Blueberry Cactus, is a succulent plant belonging to the Cactaceae family. Native to the arid regions of Mexico, it is distinguished by its columnar growth, well-defined ribs, and sturdy white spines that give it a sculptural and modern appearance.
Thanks to its vertical growth and extraordinary drought resistance, it is one of the most popular species for decorating contemporary spaces, greenhouses, terraces, and Mediterranean gardens. Over time, it can develop new branches, becoming increasingly spectacular.
Exposure
It prefers a very bright position, preferably in full sun or with several hours of direct light every day.
Indoors, it is best to place it near a very bright window, while outdoors it is perfectly suited to balconies, terraces, and gardens exposed to the sun.
Watering
Like all cacti, it requires little watering.
In spring and summer, water only when the soil is completely dry.
In autumn and winter, drastically reduce watering, keeping the substrate almost completely dry.
It is important to avoid waterlogging, which could cause root rot.
Land
Use a specific soil for cacti and succulents, well-draining, which promotes the rapid flow of water.
Temperature
It prefers temperatures between 15°C and 30°C.
It can tolerate short periods of cold if kept completely dry, but it is advisable to protect it when temperatures drop below 5°C.
Fertilization
During the growing season (spring-summer) you can administer a specific cactus fertilizer once a month, following the recommended doses.
Ideal for those who want an ornamental plant that requires little maintenance.
