Drosera or Capens Alba is a tropical carnivorous plant that develops long-limbed leaves with characteristic sticky insect traps that are particularly effective for midges and small flying insects.

The leaves are in fact covered with brightly colored tentacles that have drops of glue at their ends with which they capture insects. When the insect is caught, the leaf rolls up due to tigmotropism, this aids in digestion by bringing more digestive losses, which are found in the central region of the leaf, in contact with the prey.

At the end of the digestive process, the leaf unwinds again. Normally it remains alive but if the insect was larger than the usual prey (midges, mosquitoes) the leaf dries up and is immediately replaced.

The plant has a tendency to keep the dead leaves from the previous season, and the stem of the plant can become long and woody over time.

This plant can also grow well in Mediterranean climates with some precautions:

1- earth always very wet, better if positioned with water always present at the base of the pot

Direct light even in the sun for a few hours, it suffers from the cold below 0 ° C

Substrate: the ideal substrate is peat and perlite in equal parts.

Fertilization and special precautions: it has an extremely reduced root system, therefore a large pot is not necessary.
